2. Why does the intruder choose Gerrard as the man whose identity he wants to take on?

Ans: Because the intruder is a murderer and goes to kill a person. Gerrard and the intruder are similar faces so, the intruder thinks that he kill Gerrard and takes his identity of Gerrard and impersonates him to escape from the police.
